Webcast ReviewsJohnson v Firstrand et al: What the auto finance ruling means for all broker-introduced business
Conference Asset Finance Connect releases its 2024 autumn conference video Published: 22nd November 2024 Share For the Asset Finance Connect team, it’s a bit like waiting for the annual John Lewis Christmas TV commercial. Waiting for the pre-conference video to arrive from our AV team, I mean. And while we don’t want to be seen as sad Ebenezer Scrooge types who value commerce over seasonal tidings, we hope you’ll understand we can’t help but get caught up in the excitement of the conference, which has been six months in the planning and is now just a few days away. This time round its extra-exciting because we have a really important role in helping the industry understand the Court of Appeal’s recent verdict and in moderating the important discussions around its implications. Please know we’re working hard to deliver on our responsibility to make next Tuesday’s conference super-useful, extra-interesting and loads of fun. Anyone who is anyone in the industry is already booked to be there. If you haven’t yet booked, you should act now. We still have a few tickets left. But not many now. Please take a look at our conference video. You will see that we start by exploring whether the big implication of the court verdict lies in understanding intermediaries new fiduciary duty and is not just about evryone’s first focus post-verdict which was around commission disclosure. Working with both the FLA and the NACFB we’ll help make sure you really understand what this means; why a fiduciary duty for a broker is creating complaints levelled at lenders; and why commission disclosure is seen as the flip side of intermediaries new trusted advisor status. Once we have explored that we can start to figure out the implications – and to do that we will hear from lenders, brokers, dealers and even wholesale funders to learn what this means for them. And after theat we will try to start to consider what a great new commercially focused customer-centric journey post-verdict will look like. Come armed with your questions – and be ready to share your views. That’s what makes communities like ours so powerful. And if you already know what you want to find out, let me know (edwardpeck@assetfinanceconnect.com) ahead of time so I can include your question in the moderators’ notes. The Asset Finance Connect Conference is your opportunity to connect with the industry, to understand what’s on your industry colleagues’ minds and to take your place as an industry practitioner, contributing your thoughts, participating in the industry’s marketplace of ideas. It’s well on the way also to becoming the largest ever asset finance event in Europe. On behalf of the whole team, we want you to know we’re looking forward to seeing you there next week!
