Robert Gordon (pictured) has been appointed CEO for Hitachi Capital (UK) Group, with effect from April 1, 2015.

This follows the move of Chris Shirai, current CEO and Hitachi Capital Corporation executive officer for Europe and the Americas, to focus more directly on the organization’s activities in the United States and Canada.

Shirai assumes an additional role of chairman and CEO for Hitachi Capital America, and from April 1 will serve on the Hitachi Capital UK Group board in the capacity of a non-executive director representing Hitachi Capital Corporation.

Robert Gordon has over 30 years’ experience within the finance industry and has a long record of leadership, stimulating asset and profit growth and implementing change.

He joined Hitachi Capital (UK) on 16 January 2006 as managing director of business finance, before joining the board as group finance director in September of the same year; steering the direction, strategy and M&A activity of the group. He was then appointed to the position of Chief Operating Officer in June 2011.

Chris Shirai said: “With his knowledge, expertise and commitment to the business, I believe Robert is the perfect candidate for this position. During his time as COO and through links with our colleagues in Japan, Robert has developed a great respect and awareness of Hitachi Ltd and Hitachi Capital’s vision and identity, which he will use to guide his decisions for the future of our business.”

Gordon commented: “I am delighted to have been given the opportunity to steer this diverse and growing organisation and am looking forward to taking up my new role in April. Hitachi Capital UK Group provides consumers and businesses in the UK with innovative finance products and a very real commitment to customer care.”
