Richard Baird has been promoted to the position of new business development director at Marshall Leasing.

Jonathan Ross, sales & marketing director, said:  “The Cambridgeshire based independent contract hire company which is part of the recently floated Marshall Motor Holdings, has made this internal promotion on merit.

“I can’t think of a more positive expression of our group’s ambitions than the recognition of existing talent. Richard has been with us for approaching 10 years during which time he has made a significant contribution to our success. Richards’s promotion to new business development director comes at a time when we have made two further appointments to the new business team. Keith Turner and Richard Gill will now be working alongside Julie Irons and Lottie Linell, reporting into Richard. The message is clear, we have a great reputation, we have a fantastic client base and we want to grow both.”

Peter Cakebread managing director said: “Marshall Motor Holdings believes strongly in internal staff development and promotion. At Marshall Leasing I have been able to build my board from within. This sits extremely well with our extraordinary staff retention and ‘Great Place to Work’ staff survey results. I am delighted to have been able to make this appointment at the start of what we believe will be another great year for our sales operation.”

Richard Baird has worked in the motor industry for more than 28 years. He has all round experience within the fleet industry having worked in fleet sales for both a private dealer group and a major vehicle manufacturer. He started as a fleet representative for Lex Rover and has experience as a general manager within a dealer group, before moving into leasing 12 years ago.

Over the past nine years with Marshall,  Baird has been primarily responsible for the development of sales opportunity during a period of growth in the Marshall Leasing fleet. He has been working closely with Jonathan Ross to shape the sales strategy and direction of the sales operation.

He has also been a familiar and active figure within ACFO the premier organization for fleet operators for over 25 years. He is a director as well as chairman for the London East region. His key focus has been looking at ways to increase ACFO membership,  awareness of ACFO and generate revenue so that the organization can do even more for its membership.
