Appointments Grant Thornton strengthens its UK leasing, asset & consumer finance team with new appointments Published: 28th October 2014 Share In line with its strategy of expanding in the leasing, asset & consumer finance sector, Grant Thornton UK LLP, a leading UK financial and business adviser, has appointed Marc Tendler and Bas Hoekstra to its Leasing, Asset & Consumer Financing team. Both men will work alongside Tarun Mistry, Christian Roelofs, Phil Gerrard and Peter Landers delivering sector focused advisory services to this industry. Commenting on the appointments Tarun Mistry (pictured above), partner – head of financial services corporate finance (and founder of the firm’s leasing, asset and consumer advisory finance practice) said: “I’m delighted that they have both joined our team. Marc and Bas bring vast experience in the UK and European markets which perfectly complements our growing team. “They bring additional skill sets to further strengthen our offering and this is aligned to where we are seeing growing market demands. A strengthened team composed of a core group of individuals with real sector knowledge is in line with our strategy and reflects the continued focus of Grant Thornton in this sector. The expansion of the team further establishes us as the go to advisory firm in this market.” Marc Tendler Tendler, a chartered accountant, has been appointed head of UK vendor and captive asset finance. He has spent over 30 years in the leasing industry. Before joining Invigors, he spent 10 years as finance director of ING Lease UK building the lessor from a greenfield site to one of the UK’s premier lessors. He has a wide range of experience providing vendor, operational and financial management and funding solutions to a global client base both as a consultant and lessor. He has also worked across Europe. Alongside this Tendler brings a strong delivery focus to the team. Marc Tendler told Asset Finance International that his principal responsibilities would include building vendor and captive relationships as well as further developing Grant Thornton’s general leasing team. “In addition,” he said, “Grant Thornton has a very large client base and there will be clients who have not considered the wide opportunities presented by asset finance. I intend to help them to maximise these opportunities and grow their businesses.” Tendler’s specialisms are wide and range from the financing of assets such as plant and machinery, commercial vehicles, and technology to virtually the whole gamut of equipment. He also has wide experience of forming, establishing and developing vendor and captive programmes. Bas Hoekstra Hoekstra is to further enhance and build on the European footprint of the Grant Thornton team. He has spent over 20 years in the leasing industry. He was global head of product management and a member of management team of ING Lease Holding. He has developed greenfield operations and developed finance programs across Europe and Asia. Hoekstra also brings his considerable experience in mergers, acquisitions and disinvestments to the team. Tendler said: “It is clear to me that Grant Thornton is going through a tremendous growth phase with a range of very relevant value-adding client services. I’m pleased to have joined the team.” Hoekstra added: “Like Marc I also see tremendous opportunity and I look forward to building out our European offerings within this truly unique sector focused advisory practice”.
