Times of recession or disruption often give opportunity for new businesses to emerge and evolve. One has only to think of the plethora of challenger banks, independent leasing businesses and new brokerages that transpired in the wake of the 2008/09 recession. In keeping with this trend, the financial services, banking and motor finance recruitment sector today witnessed the launch of a new player, Mark Lyons Recruitment (MLR).

Mark Lyons (pictured above) comes with a career firmly footed in asset finance. Following a sound background acquired as a business development manager at Bank of Scotland’s Capital Bank he moved on to Experian as a strategic development manager.

He said: “At Capital Bank I learnt about asset finance, how to really understand a business’s needs and create innovative finance solutions. The subsequent move to Experian, where I was tasked with acquiring new business revenues from within the financial services sector gave me experience of selling outbound telemarketing, inbound response handling, payment processing, web development and contact centre management.”

“The exposure to transactional and more strategic sales processes” he added, “served me well when I moved into recruitment in 2001.”

Here, over a period of nearly 20 years, Lyons worked on developing key clients where he saw new opportunities or worked with existing clients that needed a long term relationship investment. He also generated new income streams in markets that hadn’t been worked in such as the contract hire, fleet leasing and technology finance sectors to name a few. Lyons also helped further strengthen the proposition in the banking, invoice finance and asset-based lending markets.

Lyons has structured MLR to serve the wide spectrum of sectors he has experience working across. When assessing the priorities of a newly-formed recruitment company Lyons is clear: “One needs the ability to generate new business and establish long-term relationships. The ultimate aim is to become the first port of call for clients.”

“In addition,” he said, “I will continue to place those seeking entry level positions up to board level positions and everything in-between meeting our clients’ needs in executive search, retained and contingent recruitment. We will also be offering a service covering redeployment and career transitioning support”

“Supporting your staff ensures a positive relationship as the employee transitions across or out of the business, giving a clear message to other employees that staff are treated fairly and helps protect the company brand and values”

As an enthusiastic recruiter Lyons brings to the market what he describes as five paramount attributes: Engaging, Genuine, Honest, Knowledgeable and Reliability, all crucial to the recruitment process.

At the present challenging and rapidly-evolving time for lenders Lyons believes that it is now more crucial than ever for companies to work very closely with a firm which is able to fully support their recruitment plans – and for individuals to get close to a recruiter who truly understands their career aspirations.

MLR is able from its launch to work with clients across the UK and throughout mainland Europe. www.marklyonsrecruitment.com
