Technology Sponsored by Technology Fleet Logistics’ new app takes drivers’ communication “up to another level” Published: 29th July 2014 Share Fleet Logistics is launching a free driver app to provide fleet drivers with access to all their vehicle details, mileage data, support services and other key information. The app provides a platform through which the driver can communicate with Fleet Logistics, keep their mileage records up-to-date, access details about preferred suppliers and find answers to frequently asked questions at any time of the day or night. The ‘Fleet Logistics Mobility Control App’ is now available for all users of Windows smart phones on Fleet Logistics’ fleet of around 130,000 vehicles across Europe. They are soon to be joined by users of all Android and Apple smart phones. One of Fleet Logistics’ objectives with the introduction of the app was to improve the quality of driver data that is entered into the system, as improved data quality leads to a reduction in costs, improvement in productivity and an acceleration in the speed to the market. Barbaros Hooimeijer, international director of Application Management at Fleet Logistics who led the driver app development team, explained that the app also allows Fleet Logistics to communicate directly with drivers via broadcast messaging and to push out important communications or hot topics to drivers, such as the need to switch to winter tyres for example. Available is information about suppliers, including leasing company and other suppliers, vehicle costs, the tax situation for the vehicle and all company fleet policy information. Drivers are also provided with details of what to do in the event of an emergency such as a breakdown, as well as holding all service provider and insurance company details, and provides clear, concise instructions on how to access these services. The app now becomes an integral part of the Fleet.Online module and will be made available directly to clients through, and as an extension to, the module. The new app is available in all markets in which Fleet Logistics operates and in all the languages of those markets. The first roll-out of the new app will take place later with month with two large international fleet clients. Drivers will be informed by email with full details of how they can access and download the app to their smart phones. The next phase will be rolled-out to fleet clients which operate Windows smart phones, followed, in quarter three and four, by those clients who use iPhones and Android devices, along with any other clients who want to benefit from having use of the app. Hooimeijer said: “It became increasingly apparent to us that growing numbers of our drivers were communicating directly with us via their smart phones to search for and share data directly with us. “We wanted to ensure that we effectively supported this latest communication trend and developed the app to make it easier for drivers to communicate with us and, in turn, us with them. “We also wanted to improve the quality of the data that drivers were inputting. With the launch of the app, the driver becomes part of the control process and the driver can easily react with us if something needs to be updated. He stressed: “We believe it will bring a major improvement to their business lives as well as helping to simplify the whole operational fleet management service.” Rainer Laber, CEO of Fleet Logistics, (pictured) added: “This new driver app helps take our communication with drivers to another level, as well as providing them with easy and instant access to the information and data they need in relation to their company vehicle, at all times of the day or night. “We believe that the development of driver services in this way is a major advantage for our clients as it helps improve communication, captures mileage more effectively and accurately, improves the quality of the data and is completely compatible with all the very latest technological advances.” Asset Finance Connect Asset Finance Connect brings you news and updates about UK and European auto, equipment and asset finance providers.
