Nearly half of UK small business owners predict that Brexit will provide new financial opportunities, according to research by Hitachi Capital Business Finance.

Despite the economic uncertainty surrounding the UK’s departure from the EU in 2019, SMEs feel that the UK Government will be obliged to do more to support domestic businesses.

Coupled with this, many believe the UK’s exit from the EU will result in less red tape holding their companies back and that UK consumers will buy more goods from British businesses.

Gavin Wraith-Carter, managing director at Hitachi Capital Business Finance, said: “With Brexit negotiations underway, the widely held view that businesses don’t like uncertainty does not necessarily apply for the small business community.

“Our research suggests that many see uncertainty as an opportunity; the mother of invention and perhaps even ambition – a chance for many to develop new services and to gain market share.”

Hitachi Capital Business Finance, a subsidiary of Hitachi Capital (UK), provides business asset finance to more than 25,000 customers throughout the UK.
