Wyelands Bank has appointed Stephen Rose as deputy chief executive officer and Rachelle Frewer as chief financial officer.

Rose will focus on delivering growth while Frewer will focus on the financial performance of the bank.

Rose is a chartered accountant with 30 years’ experience working in senior finance and change roles across the banking, insurance, and asset finance sectors, most recently as finance director of Bibby Financial Services. He has also held senior roles at Hitachi Capital and was chief financial officer for Aspen Insurance (UK).

Frewer’s previous roles have covered finance, treasury, corporate affairs and risk in global financial institutions including Standard Chartered Bank and HSBC, most recently as deputy chief financial officer at C. Hoare & Co. She has also worked as finance director for the commercial division of Close Brothers.

Iain Hunter, chief executive officer at Wyelands Bank, said: “As a bank, we get to know our customers, giving them direct access to decision makers to help them to trade, grow and create jobs. Stephen and Rachelle’s appointments are a very real demonstration of that commitment, complementing and strengthening our executive team.”

Total lending volumes through the past financial year at Wyelands Bank are nearly £1 billion.

Wyelands Bank was established in 2016 by British industrial entrepreneur Sanjeev Gupta, as part of his vision to support industrial business growth in the UK and around the world.

The independently-owned bank is managed and regulated by both the Prudential Regulation Authority and Financial Conduct Authority.

The appointments are the latest in a series of changes at the bank. Earlier this year, Wyelands Bank appointed a renewables specialist, Mark Turrell, specialist to expand its services into the renewable energy sector .

He joined from Capitas Finance where he was an executive director focused on renewables energy and energy efficiency projects. He previously held senior roles for Lloyds Banking Group and GE.

Jim Higginbotham, managing director, asset finance, at Wyelands Bank, who was appointed in 2018 to develop its asset finance offering, said: “At Wyelands Bank, we get to know and understand our customers, helping them to access finance and unlock growth. With a strong track record in the renewable energy sector, Mark’s appointment demonstrates our commitment to support our customers in this critical sector.”
