Swedbank has announced the appointment of Jon Lidefelt as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO), effective November 1, 2024. Lidefelt, who is currently head of the bank’s Baltic Banking division, will replace outgoing CFO Anders Karlsson, who is set to lead Swedbank’s US operations starting next year.

Lidefelt has been with Swedbank since 2013 and brings extensive experience across multiple areas of the bank. He has been a member of Swedbank’s Group Executive Committee and holds a Master of Science in Engineering Physics with a focus on Financial Mathematics from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm.

Jens Henriksson, CEO and President of Swedbank, praised Lidefelt’s proven leadership within the organisation:

“Jon has experience from many different parts of the bank and a good understanding of our business. I look forward to continuing our good cooperation in his new role.”

Reflecting on his new position, Lidefelt stated, “I have had a fantastic experience in my current role.

“Now I look forward to this opportunity to continue our path towards Swedbank 15/25 and ensure a long-term return on equity of at least 15%.”

Lidefelt will take over from Karlsson, who has held the CFO position since 2016 and will now move to lead Swedbank’s operations in the US, a critical market for the bank’s international strategy.

In conjunction with Lidefelt’s appointment, Swedbank has named Olof Sundblad as the acting head of Baltic Banking. Sundblad, who is currently CFO of Swedbank’s Baltic operations, will join the Group Executive Committee while a search for a permanent replacement for the Baltic Banking leadership begins.
