Simply Cup 2025: All teams secured for a vital cause

The Simply Cup, a flagship event in the asset finance industry, is back and promises to be bigger and better than ever for its 2025 edition!

Simply, organisers of the Simply Cup, are thrilled to announce that all 30 team spots for the upcoming Simply Cup Charity 5-a-side football tournament have been filled. With strong participation from the finance, banking, and leasing sectors, it’s shaping up to be an unforgettable day of friendly competition and community spirit.

The 2025 tournament, which takes place on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at Powerleague Battersea, will mark the third year of the Simply Cup and aims to raise record funds for Cancer Research UK (CRUK). The event has become a marquee moment in the industry, bringing together teams and spectators alike to support a cause that resonates with so many.

Reflecting on the overwhelming success of the 2024 tournament, which raised over £21,000 for CRUK, Simply Finance CEO Mike Randall expressed his excitement: “It’s amazing to see the spirit of collaboration continue year after year. The industry really comes together, not just for the competition, but to support a vital cause that affects so many lives.”

In January 2024, the event saw 26 teams compete in an intense yet fun-filled day. LGB Capital Markets triumphed over Audeo Financial Services, the defending champions, in a thrilling final.

This year, with 30 teams secured and a number of reserves lined up, the 2025 edition is set to be the biggest yet.

While the Simply Cup is about fundraising and football, it’s also making strides toward inclusivity.

Last year’s tournament saw the inaugural participation of the Leasing Lionesses, a dedicated female team, which was a significant step towards promoting gender equality in the finance industry.

“We are incredibly proud to have championed inclusivity in our sport,” Randall noted. “The Leasing Lionesses and other female players are paving the way for greater diversity in our industry, and this year we have expanded participation and have two industry women teams”

While all team spots are filled, Simply are still actively seeking players to fill the remaining few spots on the Leasing Lionesses for the 2025 tournament.
