News Scania continues to strike gold in Ecovadis Published: 11th September 2024 Share For the fourth time in six years, Scania has been awarded a gold rating by Ecovadis, the world’s largest and most trusted provider of sustainability ratings for business. This accolade places Scania among the top 5% of over 125,000 companies assessed globally, reaffirming its position as a leader in sustainable transport. Jacob Thärnå, Head of Sustainable Transport at Scania, expressed immense pride in the achievement, highlighting it as a testament to the company’s ongoing commitment to sustainability. “Being a sustainability leader is Scania’s purpose. We put our hearts and souls into driving the transition of our industry. Receiving yet another gold rating by Ecovadis is proof for ourselves, as well as our customers and partners, that Scania is on the right track,” Thärnå stated. Scania’s latest score of 75 out of 100 marks an improvement from the previous year’s score of 72. This increase is largely attributed to a significant improvement in the Sustainable Procurement category, where Scania’s score rose from 60 to 80. The other categories—Environmental Impact, Labour and Human Rights, and Ethics—also maintained strong scores of 80, 70, and 70 respectively. Thärnå emphasized the critical role that sustainability plays in the company’s overall competitiveness. “Companies who take the sustainability lead are also the future market winners. Public and private actors increase their demands on sustainable transport every year. Achieving high results in unbiased ratings such as Ecovadis is key for Scania to participate and take a strong position in many procurement processes,” he added. Scania’s gold rating by Ecovadis not only underscores its dedication to sustainability but also enhances its standing in a competitive market where environmental responsibility is increasingly becoming a decisive factor in procurement decisions. Thärnå particularly highlighted the efforts of Scania’s procurement team, whose dedication to sustainable development has been instrumental in achieving this high rating.
