Olivier Gavalda appointed Chief Executive Officer of Crédit Agricole S.A.

Crédit Agricole S.A. has announced the appointment of Olivier Gavalda as its new Chief Executive Officer. The decision, made by the Board of Directors chaired by Dominique Lefebvre, follows the recommendation of the Appointments and Corporate Governance Committee. Gavalda will officially assume the role after the General Shareholders’ Meeting on May 14, 2025.

The company confirmed that the transition process within the General Management team will be organised over the coming months to ensure a seamless leadership handover.

Olivier Gavalda, a long-time veteran of Crédit Agricole, brings with him a wealth of experience spanning nearly four decades.

He began his career at Crédit Agricole du Midi in 1988, holding key roles such as Organisation Project Manager, Branch Manager, and Head of Marketing. His dedication and expertise paved the way for a series of leadership positions across the group’s regional and national branches.

Gavalda’s ascent within the organisation includes notable appointments:

  • 1998: Regional Director at Crédit Agricole Ile-de-France.
  • 2002: Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Crédit Agricole Sud Rhône-Alpes, focusing on Development and Human Resources.
  • 2007: Chief Executive Officer of Crédit Agricole Champagne-Bourgogne.
  • 2010: Head of the Regional Banks Division at Crédit Agricole S.A.
  • 2015: Deputy Chief Executive Officer overseeing the Development, Customer, and Innovation Division.
  • 2016: Chief Executive Officer of Crédit Agricole Ile-de-France.
  • 2022: Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Crédit Agricole S.A., in charge of the Universal Bank.
