Our client is major European lender are looking for a Head of Credit Risk to join a well-established and experienced team. 

This 2nd line of defence role ensures risk provides an efficient response for risk recommendation on proposals, schemes, and introductory sources, in line with credit and risk policies, procedures and business strategy within a delegated authority.

Ensures quality of credit proposal, credit analysis and risk opinion is maintained for submission to a higher authority including assessment of documentation compliance.

Monitoring of Provisions for accounts in arrears in line with 4 eyes principle.

Maintain Risk governance through Risk Committees, Doubtful Debt Committees, Intro Source Accreditation and Counterparty Annual Review process.

You will:

  • Manage a team of Risk Managers and self-Underwrite transactions, schemes and introductory sources within delegated authorities and turnaround times.
  • Ensure the team meets expected service levels and self-prepare proposals for submission to a higher authority. Enhance Risk tools as appropriate. Engage with Legal and Business Units regarding non-standard documentation.
  • Organise Doubtful Debt & Watchlist Committee and monitor the level of provisions for Bad Debt. Perform 2nd Level controls of Asset Management assessment.
  • Close monitoring of customers on the Watch list. Post-mortem analysis on early entries in default
  • Reinforce the Risk Management Culture by demonstrating Risk Awareness principles to all Business Teams.

What we are looking for:

  • Leadership experience within credit risk from within the Asset Finance sector with the ability to work strategically with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience with Large Ticket decision making at £500K and above, on SME and Corporate counterparties
  • Strong Negotiation skills to assist with shaping of deals both  with the Business and higher authorities
  • Experience with preparation of papers and supporting information for Larger Ticket deals outside of own  delegation powers to go to a higher authority or Credit Committee
