General Motors (GM) has expanded its Maven car sharing service to include a new monthly hire option.

The new service, called Maven Reserve, increases the range of flexible hire choices beyond the current hourly and daily hire options.

At launch, Maven Reserve will be available in Los Angeles and San Francisco, where members tend to hold onto their vehicles for longer than any other market.

Vehicle hire includes a dedicated parking space for the duration of the reservation, insurance and $100 worth of gas.

Megan Stooke, chief marketing officer for Maven, said: “Car sharing is evolving and Maven will continue to adapt to members’ wants and needs.”

In 13 months, Maven has launched three products and has grown to 17 cities in the U.S. and Canada. It now has more than 25,000 car sharing members who have made more than 32,000 reservations and between them traveled more than 80 million miles.

It offer a range of vehicles from the General Motors fleet, with the most popular being the Tahoe and Volt.

Cars feature a range of smartphone-ready technologies, including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
