The new Edenred global white paper – “Green, Smart and Inclusive: A Deep Dive on Key Drivers for Corporate Fleets” – addresses critical mobility challenges in Europe and Latin America.

The publication focuses on the urgent need for sustainable solutions, the impact of rapid digitalisation and automation, and the pressing issue of labour shortages in the road transport sector.

The white paper emphasises the significant role companies play in promoting sustainable mobility, noting their substantial share in vehicle sales and high fleet mileage.

Survey data within the report indicates that while electrification solutions are increasingly mature, scalable, and cost-effective, financial and technological barriers continue to impede swift adoption. To address these challenges, Edenred calls on policymakers to establish a predictable policy framework for net-zero mobility and to implement pragmatic rules for corporate electrification, such as smart charging and reimbursement for home charging.

The paper also highlights the necessity of maintaining and extending financial incentives for greener corporate fleets, acknowledging that alternative fuels will remain vital for specific fleets and markets.

In light of the rapid digitalisation and automation transforming the transport ecosystem, driven by advancements in AI and telematics, Edenred underscores the importance of granting vehicle owners full access to their in-vehicle data. This access is deemed crucial for maximising the benefits of investments in operational efficiency and facilitating a green digital transition. The white paper advocates for the development of digital tolling systems with stable rules and conditions to support this evolution.

Addressing the critical labour shortages in the transport sector, the white paper advocates for enhanced workforce diversity. Edenred recommends strategies to attract young workers, women, and diverse talent by moving away from informal employment practices, ensuring secure wages and health coverage, and improving rest areas for drivers. The report also emphasises the importance of targeted support for employee training as a key component in overcoming workforce challenges.
