News Crédit Agricole S.A. to acquire Santander’s stake in CACEIS Published: 20th December 2024 Share Crédit Agricole S.A. has announced a definitive agreement to acquire Santander’s 30.5% stake in CACEIS, its asset servicing subsidiary. The move will grant Crédit Agricole S.A. full ownership of CACEIS, positioning the company to further consolidate its role as a leading European asset servicing provider. The acquisition aligns with Crédit Agricole’s strategic focus on bolstering CACEIS’s market presence and expanding its client offerings. Over recent years, CACEIS has achieved significant growth through both organic expansion and strategic acquisitions, most notably the integration of RBC Investor Services’ European operations. This acquisition broadened CACEIS’s client base and diversified its product portfolio. In parallel to this transaction, CACEIS and Santander are maintaining their long-term partnership. The two companies will continue to co-manage their joint venture overseeing their Latin America operations. The completion of the transaction remains subject to standard regulatory approvals and other customary conditions. It is anticipated to close later in 2025. While the deal is expected to slightly impact Crédit Agricole’s fully-loaded CET1 ratio—reducing it by approximately 30 basis points—the group emphasized that the acquisition aligns with its financial goals for return on investment and tangible equity.
