Specialist lender Cambridge & Counties Bank has appointed Tim Lucas to the newly created role of Head of Product & Proposition. Reporting to the bank’s Chief Commercial Officer, Sarah Barker, he will work alongside the leaders of the bank’s real estate finance, asset finance and marketing departments as part of its UK growth strategy.

Tim was most recently Head of Product at HSBC, responsible for leading a large product team overseeing a suite of banking products across a number of brands. Prior to that, he was responsible for the existing customer management of the retail portfolio at HSBC UK.

He joins Cambridge & Counties Bank at a time of strong performance and growth at the bank, having just achieved a record-breaking month for new lending in February 2024. Tim will hold responsibility for the bank’s products across savings and lending, ensuring that they are reflective of the current and future needs of its customers.

The appointment marks a continuation of Cambridge & Counties Bank’s investment in its talent, following the recent appointments of Scott Barber as Regional Director – North, Elizabeth Lockwood as a Non-executive Director (NED) and Chair of the Risk & Compliance Committee, and Michele Ibbs as NED and shareholder representative for Cambridgeshire Local Government Pension Fund, one of the bank’s two shareholders.

Sarah Barker, Chief Commercial Officer at Cambridge & Counties Bank, said: “We’re delighted to welcome someone of Tim’s calibre and exceptional experience to the senior team. He will play a central role in our strategy to be the ‘bank of choice’ for the UK’s SMEs and professional property investors.”

Tim Lucas, Head of Product & Proposition at Cambridge & Counties Bank, said: “Cambridge & Counties Bank is well positioned to meet its growth aspirations in core areas such as asset finance and real estate finance. I look forward to working with all teams to deliver an enhanced proposition to our customers and the commercial finance brokers that serve them.”
