Johnnie Halliday told Asset Finance International: “It is with much regret after some heartache that the AF-PA board in conjunction with the venue has decided to postpone tomorrow’s event on Thursday 9 July at the Farringdon Sports Bar and Grill.

“Given the severe warnings and a number of us having previous bad experience of London travel disruption during the last tube strike and combined with First Great Western train strike as well, we felt that it was best to cancel tomorrow’s event.

“This is a great shame given the effort of many AF-PA members and guests to say they are coming and booking time in the diary to attend to both network and support our charity giving. We are sorry for the short notice and for those who have already made travel arrangements to come to London, but we were holding out in the hope of a last minute settlement being reached.

“For those who have paid up front we will come back to you with alternative arrangements. It is our intention to hold both the December drinks and possibly other autumn events so we will communicate our plans and make sure that you are not out of pocket if you have paid in advance.”

He added: “Once again thanks to our sponsors Arkle Finance and Vitrx for their understanding together with Off the Fence our chosen charity and their efforts and we look forward to announcing our next events very soon.”
