The stage is set for tomorrow night’s AFC Summer Awards night with a record breaking 510 delegates attending the Honourable Artillery Ground in London to celebrate the brightest stars and the most innovative firms in the asset finance firmament. Even more attendees are booked in than last year’s 2023 sell-out.

This is the third year of what has become UK’s leading awards night for auto and equipment finance  professionals with the number of attendees growing rapidly each year. In the events first two years, demand rapidly exceeded available supply at the event’s original home at the Hurlingham Club. This year’s new central London venue can manage the additional numbers (for the time-being) and AFC will take full advantage of the additional space available at the new central London venue adding a fun fair to the list of attractions.

Glen Christie-MacAllan, head of Asset Finance at Cambridge & Counties and a judge at the awards, commented on the quality of award entries

“I just wanted to say how incredible the entries have been for the awards this year, I had to mark so many so highly and struggled with both to find the number 10’s, so many of the entries could have won. Very impressive to see the market really giving the brokers a proper chance to engage and facilitate change, and the number of people that have thrown themselves into forging a new path with tech in particular as an enhancement to what we do. A real pleasure and challenge to judge this year!”

Edward Peck, founder of Asset Finance Connect believes the key to the awards success is the progressive development of a high quality rigorous judging process. “This year’s  awards scheme is a consolidation of the award programme we established last year which focuses on getting suppliers and customers to recommend a firm. The improvements we introduced have helped generate over 100 high really good quality entries this year.

“Next year we plan to build further on the success, establishing partnerships with industry groups who can help us migrate even further away from self-nominations and difficult subjective judgements that are so often the hallmark of traditional awards. We’ll keep you posted on the proposed changes.”

AFC Summer Awards 2024 are platinum sponsored by Alfa and the chosen charity is Professors without Borders.
