Progress of lease accounting changes to be thrashed out at conference

On 16-18 September 2015 the ELFA, will be hosting a Lease and Finance Accountants Conference (LFAC).

The conference will be help in Hilton Philadelphia at Penn’s Landing, 201 South Columbus Boulevard, PA 19106.

The 2015 LFAC is an especially timely event. With a new lease accounting standard expected in 2015—with a likely transition date of 2018—the conference will feature the nation’s leading experts sharing the latest information on this important topic.

Topics to be covered at the conference:

• on Wednesday, 16 September, at 3:45pm, Thomas Linsmeier of the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) and Gary Kabureck of the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB), will review the major projects of the FASB and IASB, and share the latest news on the lease accounting project and the development of a new leasing standard;
• attend additional sessions on the lease accounting project, including “big four perspectives on the proposed leases standard,” featuring representatives from the big four accounting firms, on Thursday, 17 September, at 2:45pm;
• get up-to-speed on industry hot topics, including the new revenue recognition standard, understanding lease and loan documentation, lessor accounting of common lease products under GAAP, lease and real estate accounting, lease pricing, captive lease accounting, financial products used in leasing, bundled contract considerations and tax extenders/tax reform;
• three pre-conference workshops are planned for Wednesday,16 September: CFO Roundtable, introduction to the leasing and finance industry, and taxation of leases and service contracts.

The Lease and Finance Accountants Conference will be held alongside with the ELFA Operations and Technology Conference.

Both conferences will share an exhibition showcasing companies that provide lease and finance accounting software and other technology-related processes and systems.
