Harris MAXUS UK has appointed Steve Hunt as its new Managing Director.

Hunt brings more than 40 years of experience in the automotive industry, having held senior leadership roles across dealer groups and vehicle services businesses. He is recognised for leading large-scale operations through periods of transformation while maintaining profitability.

Most recently, Hunt was Managing Director of Midlands Truck & Van, part of Ballyvesey Holdings, where he oversaw eight Mercedes-Benz franchised sites and a Daimler Truck Used outlet. During his tenure, he led a workforce of over 500 people, delivered consistent profit growth, and oversaw the development of a £7 million dealership in Birmingham. He also steered the business through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Commenting on his new role, Hunt said: “It is a privilege to take on the role of Managing Director of Harris MAXUS UK at such a pivotal moment for the business. The quality and breadth of the MAXUS product range, together with the scale and ambition of the Harris Group, create a rare opportunity. My priority will be to work closely with our dealer partners and internal teams to drive growth, strengthen market influence, and ensure Harris MAXUS continues to lead through innovation and service excellence.”

Earlier in his career, Hunt founded Intercounty Truck & Van Limited and Sapphire Vehicle Services, and held senior positions at Volvo Truck & Bus and Paynes Garages. He has been recognised in the sector with accolades including Mercedes-Benz’s Dealer of the Year award.

Brian Patterson, Managing Director of Harris Group, said Hunt’s appointment would be central to Harris MAXUS UK’s growth plans: “Having worked directly with Steve during our time together at Ballyvesey Holdings, I witnessed first-hand his exceptional leadership capabilities. His deep industry expertise, track record of transformational growth and talent for building high-performing teams made him the outstanding choice to drive Harris MAXUS UK forward.”

Hunt’s appointment comes as Harris MAXUS UK invests in its dealer network and aftersales services as part of its long-term strategy to increase market share in the light-to-medium-duty commercial vehicle sector.
