Steve Bolton receives AFC Lifetime Achievement Award 2025

Steve Bolton, CEO of PEAC Solutions UK, was honoured with the AFC Lifetime Achievement Award 2025 at the Asset Finance Connect Summer Awards, joining a distinguished group of past recipients including Paul Jennings, Bruce Nelson, and Ian Isaac.

With more than 30 years of service to the leasing and asset finance industry, Bolton’s leadership, integrity, and commitment to the sector have earned him the deep respect of peers, colleagues, and competitors alike. This award celebrates not only his achievements in business but also his lasting contribution to the culture and evolution of the industry.

“To join the ranks of Paul Jennings, Bruce Nelson and Ian Isaac is a massive honour,” said Bolton. “And I hope everyone who knows me also knows how appreciative I am.”

Three decades of leadership, impact and partnership

Steve Bolton’s career spans major roles at Lex, Barclays, and now PEAC Solutions UK, where he has served as CEO since 2021. During his time at Barclays, he rose to become Head of Asset Finance, leading transformation and growth across a critical division of the bank. Today, at PEAC Solutions UK, he is responsible for every aspect of the local market business – sales, risk, finance, compliance, IT, and more.

“It’s been a privilege,” Bolton reflected. “I’ve always been able to look forward to both Monday and Friday, which says a lot about the people I’ve worked with as well as the industry I’ve worked in.”

His influence has extended well beyond the boardroom. Bolton has spent over eight years on the main board of the Finance & Leasing Association (FLA), including two years as Chair of the Asset Finance Division, helping shape industry policy and best practice. He also served on the board of Motability Operations Group plc, a vital organisation supporting mobility for over 700,000 disabled people in the UK.

A people-centred leadership style

Those who’ve worked with Steve describe him as “universally liked and respected” and “a gentleman in our industry.” That sentiment echoes in how he describes his own leadership approach.

“I have two superpowers,” he joked. “I like to learn from people. And I thrive on a challenge.”

Bolton’s ability to build trust and foster collaboration has been central to his success. Since joining PEAC two years ago, he has focused on turning a group of capable individuals into a high-performing, united team.

“Becoming a very capable team has been the key challenge,” he said. “My greatest achievement is helping us become a team that seeks to continuously improve and driving success by developing the people in the business.”

Inspiration for the next generation

As a long-time advocate for industry talent and development, Bolton is keen to see the asset finance sector continue to attract new voices and energy.

“ABL – always be learning,” he advised newcomers. “This industry is full of people you can learn from.”

And for the industry as a whole? “Be dynamic and energetic. Keep valuing long-term partnerships and relationships—that’s what keeps our sector strong.”

A vision for the future

Looking ahead, Bolton sees sustainability and climate impact as major priorities for the industry.

“We have to find a way to be part of the drive to net zero. Whatever the politics, using less energy is key for as long as anyone, anywhere is still burning fossil fuels. The asset finance industry has a key role to play in supporting that change, both in the UK and globally.”
