SLR Capital Partners, LLC, a private credit platform focused on specialty finance and direct lending to US middle market companies, has announced the appointment of Mac Fowle as President of Asset-Based Lending (ABL).

In the newly created role, Fowle will oversee the expansion of SLR’s ABL platform, drawing on more than 20 years of experience in the asset-based lending industry. He will report to SLR Co-Founders Michael Gross and Bruce Spohler, as well as Cedric Henley, Chief Risk Officer of Specialty Finance.

According to the firm, Fowle’s appointment strengthens SLR’s leadership team across its specialty finance businesses and supports ongoing efforts to broaden its ABL capabilities. Since 2012, SLR has invested across multiple private credit verticals, including factoring, accounts receivable financing, inventory lending, commercial finance portfolio lending, equipment financing and leasing, and life sciences finance.

“We are excited to welcome Mac to SLR as we continue to expand our Specialty Finance capabilities,” said Gross and Spohler in a joint statement. “His leadership, experience, and expertise across asset-based lending will be invaluable as we build on the firm’s nearly two decades of success, ensuring that both borrowers and investors benefit from the full strength of our platform. We look forward to working closely with Mac as we capitalise on the attractive environment and substantial addressable market for ABL in North America.”

Fowle joins SLR from J.P. Morgan Commercial Banking, where he most recently served as Global Head of Asset-Based Lending, leading the group’s efforts to support financing needs for Commercial and Investment Banking clients. Over his tenure at J.P. Morgan, which began in 2007, he also held roles as Chief Risk Officer for ABL and as a Managing Director in High Yield and Leveraged Loan Capital Markets, overseeing the origination and distribution of ABL loans, leveraged loans, and high-yield bonds.

“I am excited to join SLR at this important time in the firm’s expansion,” said Fowle. “SLR has built a longstanding and comprehensive platform with an impressive track record across multiple specialty finance asset classes, and I look forward to working with the team to further broaden the firm’s ABL offering for both our investors and borrowers.”
