SEB has announced key leadership changes, appointing Jonas Söderberg as Chief of Staff on Group level and welcoming Sven Eggefalk as the new Head of Business & Retail Banking. Both appointments will take effect on 1 September 2025.

Jonas Söderberg, currently Head of SEB’s Business & Retail Banking division, will step into the newly restructured Chief of Staff role.

With over 25 years at SEB, Söderberg brings deep institutional knowledge and broad banking experience to the position, which will include a portfolio of responsibilities previously overseen by Mats Torstendahl, Deputy President and CEO, who was recently appointed SEB’s Country Manager in the UK. Söderberg will move from the Group Executive Committee to SEB’s Senior Leadership Committee.

“I want to thank Jonas Söderberg for his strong contribution to the Business & Retail Banking division. I am very pleased that Jonas steps into the position as Chief of Staff. It is a role that requires extensive banking experience and in-depth knowledge of all different areas of SEB’s business,” said Johan Torgeby, SEB’s President and CEO.

Replacing Söderberg as Head of Business & Retail Banking is Sven Eggefalk, who returns to SEB after serving as CEO of Länsförsäkringar Bank. Eggefalk will also become a member of SEB’s Group Executive Committee.

“Furthermore, I am very happy to welcome Sven Eggefalk back to SEB,” added Torgeby. “Sven has extensive experience in retail banking, including 15 years at SEB, with a proven track record as a skilled leader with a strong customer focus.”

Eggefalk brings a wealth of experience from leadership roles within the Länsförsäkringar Group, including CEO positions at Länsförsäkringar Östgöta and Wasa Kredit. Prior to that, he held several senior roles at SEB, including Head of Development and Sales within Retail Sweden.
