Oxford Finance LLC has appointed Brock Johnson to head underwriting for its newly established Asset-Based Lending (ABL) division.

In his new role, Johnson will oversee Oxford’s ABL credit strategy, including deal structuring, credit analysis, and risk management. The appointment marks another step in Oxford’s ongoing effort to expand its lending platform and diversify its credit offerings to middle-market borrowers.

Johnson brings nearly two decades of experience in commercial finance and underwriting. Before joining Oxford, he served as a managing director at Ares Commercial Finance, where he was a member of the investment committee and handled ABL transactions across multiple industries.

“We’re excited to welcome Brock to the Oxford team,” said Kevin Harbour, managing director at Oxford. “His deep underwriting expertise and disciplined credit approach will be instrumental as we continue to scale our platform and support a broader range of borrowers.”

Oxford’s move into traditional asset-based lending reflects a broader strategic push to expand its product suite and offer more flexible capital solutions for middle-market companies.

“I’m thrilled to join Oxford at such a pivotal time,” Johnson said in a statement. “Oxford has built a strong reputation for delivering customer-focused and reliable financing. I look forward to helping grow the ABL platform and supporting clients with customised credit solutions.”

Founded in 2002, Oxford Finance provides senior secured loans to life sciences, healthcare, technology, and other middle-market businesses. The firm is headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, with offices in San Diego, San Francisco, Boston, and New York.
