New Leaf Search has partnered with a specialist finance provider in its search for an Underwriter.

💷 Salary: To £60,000 plus excellent bonus and benefits
📍 Location: UK, South of England (Remote/Hybrid)

Key Accountabilities:

Underwrite new credit proposals within personal mandate.
Recommend proposals exceeding mandate for Senior Underwriter or Credit Manager approval.
Review credit proposals above other underwriters’ mandates, providing constructive feedback as needed.
Ensure credit analyses are appropriate for the level of advance and compliant with QA standards.
Complete annual reviews accurately and within set deadlines.
Build effective internal and external relationships across SME Lending, Sales, Asset Management, and Collections/Recoveries.
Promote open communication and collaboration across departments.
Attend customer visits to enhance understanding and improve credit decision quality.

Person Specification:

Experience in commercial lending, covering both secured and unsecured facilities.
Ability to assess high volumes of lower-value proposals efficiently and accurately.
Understanding of direct and broker-led origination models.
Strong commercial awareness with sound credit judgement.
Excellent written communication and credit paper preparation skills.
Organised, detail-oriented, and able to balance risk with opportunity.
UK market experience essential.
