Hertz, one of the world’s largest car rental providers, has announced a major step forward in modernising its vehicle maintenance process through a new partnership with UVeye, a global leader in AI-powered vehicle inspection systems.

The collaboration introduces automated, AI-driven inspections to Hertz’s US fleet, beginningwith a rollout at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

With a fleet of over half a million vehicles worldwide, Hertz is focused on maximising vehicle readiness, safety, and customer satisfaction. Traditionally, vehicle checks in the rental industry have relied heavily on manual inspections—a process that can be inconsistent and time-consuming. By integrating UVeye’s advanced inspection technology, Hertz is transforming that model into a faster, more accurate, and more efficient system.

“With millions of customers and over 100 years of service around the world, we’re continually focused on transforming every aspect of our company—and that includes how we maintain our vehicles,” said Mike Moore, EVP Technical Operations at Hertz.

“We are excited to partner with UVeye to bring efficiency and greater accuracy to our maintenance process, so we can focus on our vehicles being ready when and where our customers want them.”

UVeye’s AI systems use high-resolution cameras and machine learning algorithms to conduct real-time, automated inspections of key vehicle components—including the body, undercarriage, tires, and glass. The system identifies everything from dents and cracks to tire tread wear, allowing Hertz to proactively address issues and improve fleet safety and availability.

The technology also enables faster and more transparent vehicle handovers, enhancing the customer experience at pickup and drop-off. For example, UVeye’s tyre inspection solution can instantly analyse tread depth and flag issues without the need for manual checks.

Amir Hever, CEO and Co-Founder of UVeye, added: “Hertz is setting a new standard for vehicle maintenance and fleet management in the rental industry, and we’re thrilled to partner with them.

“Our AI-driven inspection systems complement manual checks with consistent, data-backed assessments completed in seconds,” he added.

Following its successful implementation in Atlanta, Hertz and UVeye plan to expand the AI inspection systems across other major US airport locations, with full deployment expected by the end of 2025. The initiative is part of Hertz’s broader technology-driven transformation strategy aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, fleet readiness, and overall customer experience.
