DLL and Iveco Group partner to boost green vehicle rentals

Share

DLL (De Lage Landen International B.V.), a global vendor finance company, and Iveco Group, a global player in the commercial and industrial vehicle sectors, are joining forces to accelerate the energy transition in Europe. The two companies have announced a new joint venture (JV) aimed at broadening access to low- and zero-emission vehicles through flexible long-term rental solutions.

The joint venture will be formed through DLL acquiring a 51% majority stake in GATE, Iveco Group’s dedicated rental subsidiary, via a reserved capital increase. Iveco Group will retain the remaining 49% ownership. This partnership is pending regulatory approval.

Established to help customers build more sustainable vehicle fleets, GATE offers rental services for low- and zero-emission commercial vehicles. These solutions are supported by a digital ecosystem and high-quality service offerings through a network of premium partners. Under the new JV structure, GATE will benefit from increased financial backing and the deep asset financing expertise of DLL, elements that are expected to significantly accelerate its growth, development, and market expansion.

Currently operational in Italy (since 2023), and recently expanded into France and Germany in 2024, GATE plans to extend its reach to additional European countries where both DLL and Iveco Group already have a presence. In the long term, the joint venture aims to broaden its offerings to include vehicle solutions beyond the IVECO brand, further advancing its impact in the sustainable mobility sector.

Lara Yocarini, Chief Executive Officer of DLL, expressed enthusiasm about the new partnership: “One of DLL’s goals is to be a transition partner for a better world.

“We are serious about our energy transition strategy, which focuses on working with partners and customers to help them achieve decarbonisation, by financing, also through rental solutions, more sustainable, cost-effective, and future-proof assets. In the past few years, we have been investing heavily in e-Mobility. Partnering with Iveco Group, a pioneer in more sustainable transport, perfectly fits into our strategy.

“We are delighted to be able to join forces with such a reputable player and can’t wait to start offering full-service solutions together with Iveco Group through this new GATE Joint Venture,” she added.

Simone Olivati, President of Financial Services at Iveco Group, emphasized the shared commitment to innovation and sustainability:

“This collaboration with one of the top players like DLL opens a significant new chapter for GATE. We have found in DLL a partner who fully shares the spirit of innovation with which we have tackled the challenges of the energy transition. GATE was conceived as an innovative business model with the primary goal of supporting the energy transition for our customers. We are excited about the opportunities this collaboration will bring and look forward to the positive impact it will have on our business and on the future of sustainable mobility.”
