Close Brothers’ Energy team has provided funding for the construction of Muirhall Energy’s 43.6MW Priestgill Wind Farm in South Lanarkshire, marking the sixth project the financial group has supported for the clean energy developer.

Located near Abington, the Priestgill Wind Farm will feature seven turbines, each standing between 180 and 200 metres tall, and will generate enough renewable electricity to power more than 44,000 homes annually. Construction began in September 2025, with full energisation expected by November 2026.

Over its 40-year operational life, the site is projected to deliver around £218,000 annually in community benefit funding to local families and prevent approximately 30,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions each year.

Richie Kidd, Head of Deal Execution at Close Brothers, said: “We are delighted to have supported Muirhall Energy in providing project finance for Priestgill Wind Farm.

“Having funded several of their previous wind farms, it was great to work with the team again and play our part in delivering this for a client that is focused on the transition to a more sustainable future.

“This is a great example of our willingness and ability to support renewable schemes of all sizes as the UK works toward meeting its net zero ambitions.”

Sarah McIntosh, Managing Director of Muirhall Energy Ltd, added: “This is a significant milestone and reflects the dedication of our team over more than ten years of development.

“Priestgill Wind Farm is testament to our continued ability to deliver high-quality renewable projects in partnership with key stakeholders – including Close Brothers – that contribute to the UK’s long-term energy security, while providing real and tangible benefits for local communities.

“Having experienced first-hand the professionalism of the Close Brothers Energy team over many years, we have forged a strong partnership and expect to work on more projects in the future.”
