Asset Finance Connect, in partnership with Shoosmiths, is hosting a high-level workshop on 28th April to help senior motor finance lenders prepare for the potentially industry-shaping Supreme Court decision expected this summer.

The workshop – Commissions & Redress: What Auto Lenders Must Do Now to Stay Ahead – is free to attend and will take place at Shoosmiths’ London offices from 1–5pm, with a working lunch.

This timely, invitation-only event brings together legal, regulatory, and market experts to equip auto lenders with the knowledge and strategy needed to respond to the ruling’s outcome—whatever that may be.

Edward Peck, founder and CEO of Asset Finance Connect, emphasised the urgency of the moment: “The court’s upcoming ruling could reshape the regulatory and operational landscape for motor finance providers.

“Our goal is to give lenders the clearest possible view of what’s ahead, and the best chance of preparing now to deal with it.”

The workshop will feature leading voices in the legal and auto finance sectors, including barrister Thomas Samuels of Henderson Chambers, senior client director Katie Lacey from Auto Trader, Wayne Gibbard Shoosmiths partner and other members of Shoosmiths’ specialist financial services team.

“This is a critical moment for lenders. The industry needs to be both informed and prepared, not just for legal implications, but also for the operational challenges that will follow,” noted Wayne Gibbard, partner and co-head of financial services sector at Shoosmiths.

“The workshop is designed to help senior leaders ask the right questions, assess risk, and start shaping robust, agile redress strategies.”

The agenda includes expert briefings, peer-to-peer discussions, and group work aimed at creating a practical blueprint to navigate the evolving commissions and redress landscape. Topics range from assessing operational readiness and reviewing historic complaints, to evaluating data limitations, making provisions for potential redress, and preparing for possible large-scale remediation programs.

Attendees will also be invited to a follow-up roundtable on 3rd June at the Asset Finance Connect UK Summer Conference at County Hall in London

Senior decision-makers within banks, captives, and independent motor finance providers are encouraged to attend or nominate a colleague. Places are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
