Key highlights from the 2025 AFUK50 Report show that the total industry book size rose to £47.7 billion, representing an 8.0% year-on-year increase. Of the top 50 firms, 40 either maintained or expanded their portfolios, while 24 achieved double-digit growth.

As UK businesses and consumers navigate ongoing economic challenges, the asset finance sector is showing steady resilience and a gradual shift away from bank-owned lenders toward independents – often more agile in times of elevated credit risk.

The AF50 shows the highly competitive and diverse nature of the market, with total lending split between different types of bank and non-bank lenders owned in the UK, Europe and elsewhere.”
